We're are going on the northen trip tomorrow, heading to Manchester and stay over night at my best friend's house in Newcastle-upon-Tyne, to Edinburgh and finally to the Lake District, Cumbria. Fuh. If the weather permits I would like to see the lakes. Aariz surely likes it. I've planned a special place for him to meet Peter the rabbit ( a classic tale by Beatrix Potter)

I'm excited for his attire than mine..mummy punya pink boleh saja. For my baby banyak ni kena sort out =)

Barcelona Day 2 ; Another Gaudi's masterpieces

After Sagrada, Gaudi's very significant but unfinished masterpiece, we continued on to his house. Casa Mila, or better known as La Pedrera situated just the other side from Sagrada's area. We hop on the train, still on the blue line but heading to Cornella and off at Diagonal station.

While we were after his house, we spent some time at the Placa Catalunya. Another long walk like La Ramblas. Sesat sekejap sebenarnya hihi..

We didn't plan on entering this. So we didn't at all ..not a single sneak to what's inside. I'm really not his fan huh? Sebenarnya after I sampai Alhambra..rasa macam tak hairan dah semua yang lain. I'm adoring it too much that I forget eveything else... Macam cari dress pink, dress lain yang lagi cantik dah tak kelihatan..haha

Anyway, we should appreciate the work as it was considered as the innovation of curtain wall. Tengok sajalah the wave wall tu..Hebat.

For lunch, sebenarnya I have an Indian restaurant in my list but terjumpa pula a Turkish restaurant..so sebab lapar sangat ngap je la ini dulu...

Perut dah kenyang, bateri Aariz pun dah recharged, so off to Parc Guell. We got to reach Lessep station on the Green line pula. Jauh. Almost 20 mins of walking to reach the parc at El Carmel hill.

And this is the famous Parc Guell..,

Again, designed by Antonio Gaudi, yep you can see his element in there,The park was originally part of a commercially unsuccessful housing site, the idea of Count Eusebi Güell, whom the park was named after.

Lepas solat semua kat taman tu, sejuk betul wuduk, we hired a cab lah turun bawah..tak larat lah menapak lagi. Back to the Lessep station stroller patah! Kalutnya, not really patah but the screw has gone! Pelan2 jalan sampai Placa Espanya..alhamdulillah orang baik ada saja mana2 kan. He helped us with an information of local shop, and we went to this shop 'Feretalia', where I met an old lady with a biggg dog named Fifina..eheh. But stupid me I didn't snap a single photo. I was too afraid of the big dog..she's bigger than me!

Without photo proof, tapi kalau buat baik tu sampai bila-bila kita ingat kan?

Pink rose frill lace

I love documentaries. So I recently watched 'Colosseum; the ancient megastructure'. It was believed to be a great building constructed for the welfare of the next generation. Talking about next generation..history helped us in a way they have had be a magnet to visitors and later brings a good deal for the community. Heh just rephrase my two cents.

Yes we'll be visiting Rome next month =) And will extend the trip to Pompeii scavi, in Naples.

And what it has to do with my entry title? Hmm nothing. I just bought this cute headband, can't resist. Pink-rose-frill-lace, they're just my thing.

Now, how to rock the headband with tudung?

Barcelona Day2 ; FC Barcelona Nou Camp and Sagrada Familia

We have FC Barcelona Nou Camp, Sagrada Familiar, Plaza Catalunya (another long street like Las Ramblas), Gaudi's house and park today! But Aariz wanted to stay at our hotel room, he seemed not in the mood to play tourist on our day 2. He must've been tired. So I made a promise to him; 'a park' or 'a bird' or anything in his list of favorite. Sold!

So off we went to the Sants station (the metro nearest to our hotel). Singgah sebuah kedai kebab ni, dah berangan tapau lunch..tapi baru perasan rupanya buka pukul 12tghari..sobs

It was some distance from the Collblanc station to reach the stadium. Almost 15 mins walk, sempat singgah kedai buah beli pisang untuk Aariz. For that walking endeavour, ..

Taraaa..hihi, biasa2 je stadium, taklah seGrand Old Trafford..he. Dah lah tu we all tawaf this stadium to find any signage, sebagai bukti sampai..inilah terbaik

Si. I didn't forget my promise ..

Next destination was Sagrada Familia, a Roman church, the most famous work by Antonio Gaudi in Barcelona. The construction was started in 1883, and still in progress until now. Si. I saw the men, I saw the construction, the cable crane and what not. The progres is slowly because it relies on private donation (hence the fee entrance) Hmm, it is the gothic design that making it forever to finish. So complicated. One of a kind in history of art, and extra ordinary interpretation of gothic he was. Wait until you see his house.

Yang bestnya it was easy to reach this place, as the metro memang keluar right depan this church. Sagrada station.

So people, bayangkan bangunan setinggi ini, not to mention its design, dengan tunnel subway underneath..memang la bila nak siapkan..

We didn't go inside, we found a nice park just in front of the building..tengok dari jauh saja lah.. I think here is where Dao Ming She surprise San Chai (metero garden scene)

Aariz, gosok gigi!

Apparently, pau tausa (red bean) is his favorite dessert. He will stop whatever he's doing when I call him for this dessert. He knows 'sit down', dan buat gaya doa before we start eating. And I like to see his smiley eyes waiting every bite. He eat two straight away, and left one for mummy.

Aariz now dah start makan macam2, so I'm very concern on brushing his teeth. It's so easy by showing an example. Mummylah berus gigi dulu, he thinks it's fun. Barulah Aariz pun berus gigi.

Aariz suka coklat..Risau juga. Tapi kesian kalau tak bagi. Kita makan sedap, rasa tak sedap hati kan? Last day I ate an ice cream dia tengok saja.Belum pandai minta hehe. I'm sorry Aariz.

Spain : Barcelona Day1 (lagu tema; Yo Te Amo ost Meteor Garden 2)

Our flight leaving Malaga to Barcelona was at 8:50 morning but we arrived at the airport before 7. Since it was a domestic flight, we still had plenty of time. Oh yaaa it took some time to get thru the immigration though...we were asked to remove jackets and shoes. Annoyed by that, but alhamdulillah at least Aariz gave full coorperation. The hotel gave us a packed breakfast so we had time at waiting lodge before take off.

Arrived in Barcelona airport at 11ish. Hungryh! No food during our Ryanair flight, continued on another 30mins journey of train before finally arrived at Barcelona Sants station (like KL Sentral). Lunched at McDonald..fish burger saja la =) ding dong.. and dah pukul 2 petang. Owh cari hotel adalah part tak suka. Our hotel supposely just 1 mile away, but the signage was rather confusing and sesat juga lah about an hour. Me, dah ber'hola2 dengan strangers. No English tau, ada juga yang baik bagi direction..in Spanish la tapi T_T. Nasib baik, hotel sebest yang dalam tripadvisor tu. Live and Dream hotel, at EURO40 per night. Boleh la, mahal la Barcelona =( But not bad sebab very close to Barcelona Sants and Sants station/estacio (the city metro/subway). For touring Barcelona, we bought T10 cards for unlimited (maximum 2 days) subway passes at EURO8.5

In case you're wondering. Because that was what I did, google cari info sebelum pegi ke satu2 tempat tu. Budget penting okeh!

We started Barceloning at the Las Ramblas. It was a long street about 1km with shops, kiosks and cafes side by side. We enjoyed our walk towards the end of the street. And, teringat lah cita2 lama dulu 'kalau datang Barcelona nak dengar lagu Meteor Garden2; Yo Te Amo'. Hihi. Thanks million hubby, you always makes my dreamS com true! Am still playing the song while I'm typing this entry =)

Started from Placa de Catalunya (the centre) and ended at the Columbus monument at Port Vell, the harbour (the south). I wish the walk never ends, but of coz were exhausted and hugry at the end =P

I used to adore grand scluptures/statues but not anymore. When I came to Barcelona I think they are too much. Call me old fashion but I just don't. I think it's scary..I tak sukalah patung2 ni..not good.

Anyway, we finally reached the harbour.

SubhanAllah. Sejarah setiap tiang dan ruang dalam Masjid Nabawi

Beberapa ahli sejarah telah menggambarkan ruangan dalam Masjid Nabi SAW. Misalnya Syaikh Dehlawi (958 H – 1052 H) telah menuliskan dengan detail ruangan berikut dalam bukunya “Sejarah Madinah”. Penomoran berikut sesuai dengan nomor pada denah Masjid yang terdapat pada akhir buku ini.

1. TIANG DUTA/UTUSAN: Nabi SAW menggunakan tempat ini untuk menemui para utusan yang datang. Beberapa Sahabat terkemuka duduk disekitar beliau selama pertemuan berlangsung.

2. TIANG PENGAWAL: Menjadi tempat berdiri para pengawal Nabi SAW. Matori berkata, “Pintu rumah Aisyah RA berhadapan dengan tiang ini, dan Nabi SAW melalui pintu ini menuju ke Masjid Nabawi.”

3. TIANG TEMPAT TIDUR: Abdullah bin Umar RA bercerita, “Nabi SAW menggunakan tempat ini sebagai tempat tidur beliau selama I’tikaf.

4. TIANG ABU LUBABAH: Tertulis padanya. Seperti disebutkan dalam tafsir Ibnu Katsir, Nabi SAW bermaksud untuk menghukum bani Quraizzah (sebuah suku Yahudi) atas pengkhianatannya kepada Nabi SAW. Abu Lubabah RA ditunjuk sebagai penengah. Dia secara tidak sengaja membocorkan rahasia Nabi SAW kepada suku Yahudi itu. Abu Lubabah segera menyadari kesalahannya dan mengikat dirinya sendiri pada tiang ini, hingga Allah SWT menerima taubatnya. Setelah tujuh hari, Nabi SAW menerima wahyu mengenai diterimanya taubat Abu Lubabah dan melepaskan ikatanya dengan tangan beliau sendiri. Al Qur’an, Surat Al Anfal, Ayat 27 – 28 diwahyukan untuk meberikan kepada kita sebuah pelajaran. Yakni mengkhianati kepercayaan adalah sebuah kesalahan yang sangat fatal bagi para Sahabat Nabi SAW, sehingga mereka melakukan tindakan yang luar biasa untuk memperbaiki kesalahannya.

5. TIANG AISYAH: Tabrani menyebutkan Aisyah RA meriwayatkan bahwa Nabi SAW bersabda, “Ada tempat yang sangat penting di dalam Masjid Nabawi yang mulia, jika seorang mengetahuinya, mereka akan mengadakan undian untuk mendapatkan kesempatan agar bias shalat di sana”.

Suatu hari para Sahabat bertanya kepada Aisyah RA tentang tempat ini. Beliau menolak untuk memberitahukan tempat tersebut. Akhirnya para Sahabat pergi, sedangkan Aisyah RA masih bersama dengan keponakannya Abdullah bin Zubair RA. Belakangan para Sahabat memperhatikan bahwa Abdullah bin Zubair RA melakukan shalat dekat dengan tiang Aisyah. Para Sahabat meyakini bahwa Aisyah RA memberitahukan tempat tersebut secara rahasia kepada keponakannya.

Nabi SAW pernah mengimami shalat dari titik ini selama beberapa hari setelah perubahan qiblat dari Masjid Al Aqsa ke Ka’bah di Makkah. Belakangan, beliau selalu mengimami shalat dari titik yang sekarang dikenal sebagai Mihrab Nabawi As Syarif.

6. TIANG MUKHALLAQAH: Jabir RA meriwayatkan seperti disebutkan dalam hadits Buhari, “Nabi SAW bersandar pada sebatang pohon kurma (yang awalnya terletak pada tempat dimana tiang ini berada) ketika melakukan khutbah Jumat, kaum Ansar dengan hormat menawarkan pada Nabi SAW, kami dapat membuat sebuah mimbar untukmu, jika engkau menyetujuinya”.

Nabi SAW menyetujuinya dan sebuah mimbar yang terdiri dari 3 anak tangga dibangun. Ketika Nabi SAW duduk di atas mimbar ini untuk berkhutbah, para Sahabat mendengar batang pohon kurma itu menangis seperti anak kecil. Nabi SAW mendekati pohon yang sedang menangis ini dan kemudian memeluknya. Pohon ini lalu tenang setelah sebelumnya terisak-isak seperti onta betina. Pohon kurma tersebut menangis karena ia tidak digunakan lagi untuk mengingat Allah SWT.

Sejak itu batang pohon tersebut diberi sejenis pewangi yang disebut Khaluq. Dan kemudian, tiang dimana pohon kurma itu dulu berada, dikenal dengan sebutan tiang Mukhallaqah.

7. MIHRAB NABAWI: Tidak ada mihrab di dalam Masjid Nabawi selama periode pemerintahan Nabi SAW dan empat Khalifah yang pertama. Pada tahun 91 H, Umar bin Abdul Aziz pertama kali melakukan shalat di sini di dalam sebuah bentuk mihrab. Jika kita berdiri di dalam mihrab ini dan melakukan shalat, tempat sujud kita akan terletak di tempat dimana kaki Nabi SAW berpijak. Dinding tebal mihrab ini menutupi tempat sujud Nabi SAW yang sebenarnya.

8. MIHRAB USTMANI: Khalifah Utsman RA mengimami shalat di tempat ini. Sekarang, Imam Masjid Nabawi juga mengimami shalat di sini. Umar bin Abdul Aziz kemudian membangun sebuah mihrab di sini.

9. MIHRAB HANAFI: Sebelumnya Imam shalat dari empat Mazhab (Hanafi, Syafi’i, Maliki, dan Hambali) mengimami shalat di Masjid Nabawi secarah terpisah pada waktu yang sedikit berbeda dan tempat yang berbeda. Imam Hanafi mengimami shalat pada tempat ini. Namun kini, hanya satu shalat berjamaah yang diselanggarakan di Masjid Nabawi, yang dipimpin oleh Imam dari Mazhab Hambali. Hal ini berlaku sejak kekuasaan dipegang oleh Pemerintahan Saudi

10. MIHRAB TAHAJUD: Nabi Muhammad SAW melakukan shalat tahajjud di tempat ini.

11. MIMBAR: Seperti disebutkan dalam hadits Bukhari Muslin dan diriwayatkan oleh Abu Hurairah RA, Nabi SAW bersabda “Antara rumahku dan mimbarku adalah salah satu taman dari taman-taman surga dan mimbarku akan berada di telaga Kautsar pada hari Kiamat”. Berbagai pemerintahan muslim mengirimkan mimbar untuk Masjid Nabawi dari waktu ke waktu. Mimbar yang ada sekarang, dikirim oleh Sultan Murad ke-3 dari Dinasti Usmani pada tahun 998 H.

12. TEMPAT MUAZZIN: Tempat ini, berupa balkon segi empat, terletak di sebelah Utara Mimbar Nabi. Tempat ini selain sebagai tempat adzan juga sebagai tempat shalat muadzin dan untuk menguatkan suara takbir pada shalat lima waktu.

13. PANGGUNG DISEKITAR TEMPAT TAHAJJUD: (tidak ada keterangan – pent.)

14. PANGGUNG TEMPAT PETUGAS KEAMANAN: Jika kita memasuki Masjid Nabawi dari Bab Jibril, panggung ini akan berada di sebelah kanan. Dibangun oleh Sultan Nuruddin Zanki. Panggung ini sebenarnya bukanlah tempat dari Ahlu Suffah, seperti perkiraan banyak peziarah.

15. TEMPAT AHLU SUFFAH: Suffah berarti tempat berteduh. Sahabat Nabi yang miskin dan tidak memiliki rumah, bertimpat tinggal di Suffah. Di sini mereka mendapat pendidikan tentang Islam dan mengamalkannya. Jika kita berjalan dari tiang Aisyah berlawanan dengan arah qiblat, Suffah berada setelah tiang ke-5. Namun setelah Nabi SAW memperluas Masjid pada tahun ketujuh Hijriah, Suffah dipindah sekitar sepuluh meter kea rah Timur, seperti yang tergambar pada denah Masjid Nabawi.

16. BAB (PINTU) BAQI’: Pintu ini berhadapan dengan Bab Salam.

17. BAB (PINTU) JIBRIL: Terletak di bagian Timur, disebut juga Bab Nabi, karena beliau selalu masuk melalui pintu ini. Adapun alasan penyebutan Bab Jibril adalah sebuah riwayat dari Aisyah RA, “Ketika Nabi SAW pulang dari Khandaq, dan meletakkan senjata kemudian mandi, Jibril AS mendatangi Beliau seraya berkata, ‘Engkau meletakkan senjatamu?, demi Allah kita belum (bisa) meletakkan senjata, pergilah menuju mereka’, Nabi SAW berkata, ‘kemanakah?’, Jibril AS menjawab, ‘ke sini’, dia menunjuk Bani Quraizzah. Maka Nabi SAW keluar menuju mereka.

18. BAB (PINTU) NISA: Pintu ini dibuka oleh Umar ibn Khattab tahun 12 H. Beliau mengatakan, “Alangkah baiknya kalau pintu ini dikhususkan untuk wanita”.

19. BIR (SUMUR) HA: Jika kita memasuki Masjid dari bagian paling kiri dari Bab Fahd, sumur ini berlokasi sekitar15 meter ke dalam Masjid dan ditandai dengan 3 lingkaran. Nabi SAW terkadang mendatangi sumur ini dan meminum airnya. Sumur dan taman yang mengelilinginya dimiliki oleh Abu Talhah. Ketika dia mendengar ayat 92 surat Ali Imran yang berbunyi:

Kamu sekali-kali tidak sampai kepada kebajikan (yang sempurna), sebelum kamu menafkahkan sebagian harta yang kamu cintai. Dan apa saja yang kamu nafkahkan, maka sesungguhnya Allah mengetahuinya

Abu Talhah RA segera mengimfakkan taman ini karena mengaharapkan Ridha Allah SWT. Inilah contoh bagaimana para Sahabat berekasi terhadap ayat-ayat al Qur’an dan secara spontan langsung mengerjakan perintah Allah dengan sungguh-sungguh dan sepenuh hati.

20. BAB (PINTU) SALAM: Umar ibn Khattab RA membuka pintu ini yang terletak di tembok Masjid bagian Barat, ketika dilakukan perbaikan Masjid tahun 12 H. Dinamakan Bab as Salam karena letaknya sejajar dengan tempat penghormatan berupa salam kepada jasad Rasulullah SAW.

21. RUMAH ABU BAKAR RA: Jika kita berjalan dari mimbar melalui Bab Siddiq, rumah ini berlokasi setelah tiang ke-5 sejajar dengan Bab Siddiq. Suatu hari Nabi SAW bersabda, “Semua pintu rumah-rumah yang terbuka langsung ke dalam Masjid harus ditutup kecuali pintu rumah Abu Bakar”. Hal ini menimbulkan dugaan bahwa Abu Bakar RA akan menjadi khalifah pertama.

Can you believe the sky? Yes we still have no snow. The temperature fluctuate between 8- 14 degree..yo-yo weather.

The shoppers went crazy for boxing day.. the stores opened early, but we arrived even earlier haha. Got ourself a room at travelodge Wirral Estham (my first and last!) and as early as 9:30am dah tercegat kat Cheshire Oak designer outlet. It was my second time, after La Valle village Paris outlet. Ntahlah biasa2 saja, orang kata, to join the crowd hihi. Aiseh silap taktiklah, we should wait at the Next clearance door, sebab lambat 2 jam barang2 semua dah habis. Tapi baguslah juga, jimat sikit =)

Andalucia Day 3 : Alhambra, Granada

I've been waiting Alhambra for my whole life. I've been picturing myself wandering and appreciating Alhambra, to witness the Moorish masterpiece, be part of its glory with him, my husband and my son. Have you ever heard, be careful of what you wish for =) Alhamdulillah.

Alhambra is located in Granada, on the top of hill of Assabica. Alhambra in Arabic means 'the red', or in complete form was Calat Alhambra 'the red fotress', by which Alhambra is palaces and fortress complex.

Alhambra as the most significant and well known Islamic architecture was built for the last King/ Emir of Muslim in Spain from the Nasrid dynasty, Yusuf then Muhammad V the Sultan of Granada in 13th century. I once had known about Alhambra as a refuge place for the intellectual (muslim intellectual) from Spanish Christian. And here when Queen Isabella 1 came to picture. To her whom the last Sultan surrendered the Emirate of Granada

I better not to start cerita pasal perang Granada, nanti melencong pula entry hehe. I was truly happy for visiting my dream place. Nevertheless, feeling sadden for what I discovered. I'll tell you later. Anyway, some of the main highlight are the Nasrid palaces, Alcazaba (the fortress), the Partal, the Charles V palace (inserted in Alhambra lepas Christian ambil alih), and the lovely Generalife garden.

The Nasrid palaces were divided into three parts; Mexuar, Serallo and Harem. It was here the Sultan, his ministers or member consult on state affair, or anything related.

The Serallo as the main resident for emir has rooms surround the Patio of the Myrtles ( Patio de los Arrayanes), the large pool and the very significant view/symbol of Alhambra,

The end of Nasrid palaces, the most celebrated palace in Alhambra complex. The other palace found in here is the palace of Charles V, from the holy Roman emperor in 15th century, which was inserted within the Nasrid fortification.

To tell the truth, I'm not that keen for any other place than Nasrid palaces (and the Generalife garden), I guess nothing can beat the highest of Islamic architecture.

And what I disappointed most here, there was no worship room/surau.. mengingatkan Alhambra once upon a time was tempat Islam kan.. hmmm =(

Now to the Generalife garden (Jennat Al Arif, Garden of Arif). Generalife was the summer palace ( tempat bersuka2 atau istana hinggap) was owned by the Nasrid emir also constructed in 13th century. The origin might have slight redecoration but still best reflects the Persian garden style with long pool and fountains.

Alhamdulillah. Alhambra, the magical. Sekali datang, berlalu begitu saja... Rindunya. I'm glad and happy for our Andalucia trip. Next update is Barcelona.

No snow here in Birmingham, just yet. But Christmas is just around the corner. In my mind snow only comes in Christmas, heh. Snow is a kind of weather, am I right? So it will comes eventually. Tapi christmas tahun ni diramalkan pada suhu 15degree, cukup panas lah tu. Hey, did you know that the christmas tree was originally from egypt? I randomly googled the origin of christmas tree.

Yesterday the sun came out after all. Cantiknya mentari! So we went to bullring (the city centre), joined the crowd and I really didn't plan to buy a new winter jacket but I can't resist houndstooth patent right now, plus at a really bargain price; 7pounds!

I felt so bad for scolding Aariz yesterday =( Aariz nak lari2 sendiri dalam crowd people tu, and he cried..but he ran to me =( Sorry ok?

Andalucia Day3 : beautiful Benalmadena costa

It is said that Benalmadena was originally an Andalusian fishing village with white washed houses ( remember my entry ; Benalmadena Pueblo ). As the first info I found about this town, the word 'fishing village' indeed made a good impression.

Benalmadena nestled between the town of Torremolinos and Fuengirola. These costal towns located not very far from the city of Malaga. I know the city offers so much attractions; the Picasso museum. Very unlike me, but it wasn't in my list because I wanted to enjoy the beach (I've spent years wondering why people enjoyed beach so much, and now I'm one of those..haishh bestnya tinggal di Malaysia) So during our stay in Benalmadena, there was no day when we didn't play at the beach. Even if we were 2 hours late for our Granada trip =)

Andalucia Day2 : Benalmadena Costa and Pueblo

Assalam..it's December. Only few days before a brand new year. Sangat cepat tahun ini. Jangankan saya, anyone that has been following my blog juga memerhatikan pembesaran Aariz kan? Sometimes, I feel glad ada juga yang follow my humble blog ini. Ok that was just...a sincere thought. Anyway, let's continue on my second day. Maaflah gambar banyak sangat, like I said, I read my blog to refresh my memories =)

Andalucia is in the south of Spain, with Seville as its capital city, along with popular provinces like Cordoba, Granada, Malaga .. I think I once wrote about a king who loved poems in Seville, Alhambra that I've mentioned many times ..banyak kali sangat macam pernah pegi. So you know how much I wanted to go to Andalucia. And we make it real this time, though we've skipped Cordoba and Seville. I know it's such a shame not to go to Cordoba for its famous Mezquita (masjid lama, if you ever watch Suria di Codoba on astro) but due to time and cost constraint we only picked Malaga and Granada.

Haa bila ada maps barulah sedap nak cerita. Now, a little info, Costa del Sol is coastal towns along the Mediterranean coastline in Malaga. Costa del Sol means 'Sunny Coast' and yes it is. Never get tired of the blue sky. In Malaga, we stayed in Benalmadena. I could have choose Torremolinos (my husband suka ulang2 'Torremolinos" hehe), Torrox, or maybe Mijas but after many good reviews for Benalmadena Costa, I finally made my decision. And I wasn't wrong. I never looking forward to a beach this much until I finally in love with Benalmadena costa.

Aariz was happily discovering sand (and seashells), I just let him, he never got the chance plus the beach is well maintained and clean sand. We both were adoring the scenery..jernihnya, siap ada ikan di gigi air.

Kalau nak diikutkan hati, nak saja duk sini sampai petang but I have Benalmadena Pueblo in my itinerary. Pueblo means small town/ or village. But I could say it as a typical Spanish neigbourhood. Dengar orang bercakap2 rasa macam dalam telenovela. The ladies? Oh semua cantik2 =)

The Benalmadena Pueblo is located high upon the pueblo hills..So another fantastic scenery we got there. SubhanAllah yang menciptakan semua ini! In Benalmadena Pueblo is hidden what one may call the andalusian charms having kept the authentic pace of old times without being influenced by the rapid development, as I read. So what we've discovered,

If you could recall my photos from previos post, Marbella, tak banyak beza. Still maintaining they white building identity but for me Benalmadena is more for ordinary people, not so prestigious like Marbella.

It was hard to find halal restaurant, but luckily found one at Playa Santa Ana just a stone's throw away from our hotel. You must know that the north Morocco (Africa) is only neighbor on the south Spain (Andalucia), so the Moroccons juga ada kat sini, like the waiter at the restaurant where we had our late lunch. He gave us free tapas hehe..tapas is anything appetizer. We had Paella, the one that looks like nasi goreng, and roman style sotong (sotong goreng tepunglah). Mungkin saya kurang bernasib baik kerana mendapat Paella yang kureng sedap hehe..alhamdulillah rezeki hari itu =)

Andalucia Day 1 : Marbella

I'm smiling, reminiscing Spain (Andalucia) as I'm typing this entry. I miss Costa del Sol with all of my heart, thanks hubby for the videos =) If only I could share with you but obviously they need to be edited to shorter version hehe. Well, the weather was at its good, Andalucia has a picturisque surrounding....hills and beaches. A great balcony, I must say. Very perfect that photos will never do it justice.

Anyway, let's start from our first day. The flight to Malaga by Ryanair was at 6:50am, we did an early bedtime sebab kesian Aariz nanti penat. But my cheecky boy steady je..as always lah Aariz. The flight took approx 2 hrs ++. Sebenarnya, I still fear of flying terutamanya part departure and landing, but the beautiful landscape made by a near beach Malaga airport left me awe struck. Ohhh tak sabar2, sedikit berdebar juga ada.

The weather was a bliss. We didn't need jackets...selesa sangat. Boots put aside, I just wore thin cardigan. Aariz seemed so happy without clothes weigh on him. I was expected to see a sign with my husband's name on it by the care hire staff, but nothing like that has happened. So we called them haha. I'm strongly recommend you to hire a car in here. We got a manual car (left-hand drive tau), a baby seat and gps navi with full tank petrol at EURO90.

I'm usually an itinerary kind of traveler, had printed out sheets of excel files (believe me!) or 'buku travel' kalau my husband cakap. We had Marbella on the first page, with Oldtown and Puerto Banus as the locations to go. I purposely chose Oldtown because I wanted some romantic gateway. Yes, Oldtown was absolutely charming, white washed streets, chic boutiques and cafes side by side, square and fountains and I loved the balconies overflowing with flowers. So we parked our car at Marisquera La Pesquera restaurant basement at Plaza Victoria and let ourselves lost in the Casco Historico (the name of the Oldtown on map)

We had our late lunch at a restaurante named Medium Rare, the food was expensive in here. I think Marbella is a place for rich people to hang out..even a parking ticket for 2 hours costs us 8Euro T_T Tapi takpelah, bukan selalu...orang kata, nak tengok2 kan. Sean Connery used to lived in here.. there's a plaza named Antonio Banderas. Many times I told myself, I'm in south Spain weehuuu!

Yes orange trees pretty much everywhere, they line the streets and flourish tapi macam orang tak kisah.. We still curious about it.

After Oldtown we went to Puerto Banus, a marina located at the southwest of Marbella. Another playground for the rich and famous. Tapi ramai je tourist like us kat sini..tho sometimes rasa alien sikit orang tengok2 probably because I'm wearing scarf/tudung.

After Marbella, we went to our hotel in Benalmadena. I made an early reservation for this hotel to secure our room and best discounted price from http://www.lateroom.com/ . We got a studio apartment at Sunset Beach Club hotel. Two thumbs up for its cleanliness and full kitchen utensil. Satisfaction throughout our 3 days stay in this hotel. Our room was overlooking the pool and beach..hmmm.. rindunya..

Cambridge : punting on the river Cam

After lunchtime, we continued our day in Cambridge at the Backs. It is the area where the colleges of Uni of Cambrige back on to the river Cam. It is a very practical way to explore all of the colleges by punting on the river. Initially, I thought to purchase the ticket online (to reserve the seat), rupanya lagi murah beli terus and negotiable. So we got our ticket at 18pounds for two (most website price is 12pounds /pp)

Well there's nothing like punting on a river overlooking the beautiful landscape of Cambridge. Other than a leisure purpose, punting is like a quick way for us to learn the history of Cambridge. Sebab the chauffeur ceritakan every how and why about the colleges as our punt passing thru the buildings.

Yes some people might choose to walk through the Backs but it's pretty difficult because the walkway is separated by bridges.

As seen, my husband was fascinated by the Mathematical bridge. He liked it because of its mathematical explanation. Aariz pula masa ni sibuk cari duck-duck =)

Ok not accepted. It's been too long since the last pause of my Cambridge entry. Kemalasan menulis blog. haha as if anyone cares. But I've had a promise made to me; live in England for a year and all visits are to be well documented. Memories orang kata.

Ok lemme continue from the restaurant where we had our lunch in Cambridge. I found bad comments about this restaurant but I noticed that was before many years and it's probably changed since then. Positif sungguh ok. Thanks to its location at the centre of all and a nice view King's college chapel, yeah I just wanted to give it a try. Padahal sebab menu lamb shank =P

A Turkish restaurant, halal yang penting. You can refer http://www.zabihah.com/, your guide for halal eating.

The two lot shops restaurant with dozen or so tables of two or four, but we still lined up (at the outside) for our table. Perhaps it was on weekend and about lunchtime. Luckily, it didn't take us long, because the person in front of us offered his table. Baik, ni mesti sebab Aariz comel hehe. Again, there wasn't a space for stroller so we left our stroller...kat manantah, dengan yakinnya orang tak curi =P

Our food came only after half an hour, lama juga .. We had lamb shank with rice, chips small portion and tea.

The lamb was perfectly cooked and juicy, with the right sauce boleh cicah dengan chips juga. The rice as the side dishes (sikit! T_T) was tender, I thought it was steamed rice. Two thumbs up for this menu, costs 10pounds.

Cambridge : getting around the beautiful city

I browsed thru our recent photos in Cambridge, thought to choose the best photos that represent the enchanting city, but I couldn't eliminate one..semua cantik! So this entry (might) contains so many wonderful photos =)

The journey took approx 2 hours, departed from his university to Cambridgeshire. We were on a motorway (motorway for no toll gates, or expressway with toll gates), along the way was a scenic grassy field...hmm, either sheeps or cattles were spotted too. Arrived in Cambridge at 1030ish,

Lovely. That was my first impression of Cambridge. Plus the sunshine gave a promising day out (and photograph), guess what? We were greeted by swans...yes, extra white and healthier look, don't they? Of course Aariz was excited for a biological family of birds. But I shall let him tell the rest =P

You know sometimes it's better just follow the signage (whenever it takes you) than a map? Yes we did that and ran short of time haha . But like I said, everything was wonderful in here so we just roaming freely. And it took us to a housing area, named the Portugal houses,

The Portugal houses are three storey house, I think most student stay here. Yang bawah tangga iaitu ground floor.., yang tengah dan atas. Poor yang bawah tangga, they have only the windowsill, but they live in Cambridge anyway. You think this is cute enough? not until I show you their dormitory. Alamak I look fat because I forgot to tighten the belt.

So we moved on to the city centre. Yes this is Cambridge city centre..comel kan? The nature's color display was obvious..this is autumn leaves scene hehe. Notice Aariz? tengah menikmati chocolate bar, enjoying the scene I must say. And notice anyone else wearing pink than me? I've told you.

I can't stress how lovely Cambridge is.

At the T junction, we turned right to Trinity street and OMG, each step brought us enlightment .. at a moment I asked myself, isn't this really not a theme park? Everything in its place, even a tree makes a wonderful view.

Student of Cambridge aren't allowed to bring cars and commuting by cycle is practical since Cambridge is just a small city. They do have buses, I rarely see car.

University of Cambridge was formed in 1209, by scholars leaving Oxford after in house issue. That's why the two have common features. They have a long history of rivalry of each other. Speaking of rivalry, in Cambridge, rivalries exist between Trinity (the richest) and St. John's. Trinity claimed, it's better to enter Oxford than become St John's (story told by our chauffeur).

Because I knew it was impossible to cover all colleges in a day trip, I purposely chose Trinity college because of its famous fountain;

Trinity college been the college of choice of the royal family; King Edward, King George, Prince Charles hence the richest. Our very own Tunku Abdul Rahman Putra Alhaj studied in Cambridge, but not sure which college.

I initially wanted to visit the Wren library and their dining hall, but little did I know it's closed on Saturday! sedihnya...

Anyway, this is their dormitory..wow isn't it? Definitely no reason not to stay in hostel. Tapi nak masuk Cambridge ni, hehe..even the ladies, I think they all look like Hemione or Natalie Portman. Orang pandai2. Ok this is just a random assumption je =P

a day trip to Cambridge

Cambridge is a small city but fantastic. Some place reminds me a scene in Harry Potter. The weather was approaching 10degrees but the sun shone bright and I couldn't forget the splashed of golden ray at the end of the trip.

Two hours journey from Birm didn't give much time for us to explore all colleges..not quite what I had planned. But it was a lovely day to remember. We took stroll to the city, wandered around colleges, had a yummy lunch at a restaurant and the highlight of the day was punting on the river cam. Each of them deserve an entry.

Remember I've mentioned about a Clarks shoe I bought from eBay recently? It'll never reach me. Ever. Royal Mail lost my parcel, too bad, two of them at a same time. I'm very disappointed and now, I'm waiting for reimbursement. You better make it right! Despite the hatred for its service, I keep on adding things in my watch list. Tak boleh tahan. You know eBay, they've (most of time) ridiculously cheap brand new item (if you're lucky).

I've longed for a long time, Timberland boots ever since I saw Thalia wore it in one of her music video. But I didn't win the bid =( I'll find again the same shoe.

I won this Clarks shoe =) Waiting for it by next week..I asked for recorded/registered mail this time. Hairan betul shipping boleh hilang kat UK ni. Poslaju Malaysia efficient kot.

foods i like : bubur jagung

My neighbour, everything she cooks is delish as simple as bubur jagung. She came home and brought some on the other day. So yummy~ I don't bother to ask.

Sweetcorn - rebus, blend separuh. Mix with Gula merah and Coconut milk. Done.

There's a groceries shop sells almost all Asian brand. Kicap Adabi,roti canai boleh je..So senanglah kalau ada penyakit tiba2 teringin makan.

Till then, there's nothing like offering an appetizer (out of sudden) to your husband yg mungkin tengah tengok tv ni....hehe yes he is. Mungkin kepada ibu bapa juga =)

Eid Adha in Birm

MCIB (Malaysian community in Birm) indeed an active group and we were thankful for having them and performed takbir at our house the night of Eid Adha. During the very day, we celebrated it at St. Francis hall, a multiracial chaplaincy hall, normally use by muslim for friday prayer, by christian for sunday prayer or anyone for meditation purpose. Good one ain't it?

I'm proud with my son for being such a good boy doing his business without any attempt to make noise, during solat sunat raya. Instead, now he likes to imitate the position, sampai terhantuk2 masa sujud =). I've always doubted to bring him to mosque (during Ramadhan esp), takut buat bising atau tarik2 telekung..but now I can rest my worries.

As usual, everyone contributed food .. actually it has been assigned and I was given the simplest nasi himpit, I was like phew~. Seriously semua makanan sedap.. being me, of coz I like the lamb kuzi..memang terbaik. Most of the people are families whom the father or mother are doing masters or phd, very few from undergrads. Rumour said, penghantaran dihadkan ke Birmingham. I don't know about that, even my husband wrote an appeal letter. Ramai sangat dah Malaysian kot.

That's all. I wore the shoe because I've only two right now. The other one is sport shoe kind of like. This was the best match =( I'm still waiting for my new bought shoe from eBay. It's a brand new Clarks at half price. I'm addicted to eBay!

This house has 2 small separate living rooms and we are planning to equip only one next to the kitchen with sofas,tv,the dining table..you know as a room for hibernating for coming winter. He painted the wall with magnolia/creamish color and looks much better than with the previous wallpaper,which I disliked it. I know I always can depend on him.

I woke up this morning with extreme dizziness, feel like on merry go round and vomited (not pregnant) What could be wrong? Hate it. Amidst the turmoil, he said, "abg dah beli dah semua tiket tu". Meaning, he had purchased birmingham-malaga-barcelona flight tickets. OMG! We have Alhambra in December, we are going to Andalucia and Barcelona =)

I'm dreaming of Alhambra since God knows when. I even wanted to name my son as Alhambra hoh. I'm beyond a merry go round happy! Thank you abg, you always makes my dreamS come true!

Foods I like : resipi begedil

Suka begedil, tapi sayang sangat nak belanja 50sen untuk sekali ngap je..eheh..But Aariz likes it too, tak boleh berkira dengan anak kecil ye.

We have usrah on weekly basis, jadi masing2 bolehlah memperlawa diri jadi host. It's potluck dinner, everyone contributes food to be shared. I made begedil hihi. My first time, mind you. Haa buat banyak2 sampai tak larat makan =P

Got this doable recipe from my aunt.

Kentang dipotong dadu, goreng dan lenyek,
Daging cincang digoreng,
Daun bawang dicincang halus

Mix them right..pakai tangan pon bole =P And comes to part, bulat2kan adunan tadi as seen on picture barulah celup dalam telur, dan goreng lagi.

Done! Selamat mencuba.

A hospital is the last place we want to be, in such degree it should stay more comfortable for its visitors. Luckily there's a new open health centre just a walking distance to our house. Here, you must register with a doctor in the part of the city where you're living. Tapi tak boleh ambil ubat pula without appoinment, laa..

Aariz has developed fever last day, it is nearly winter, but Alhamdulillah sembuh the morning after. Nurse him all night,thanks breast milk the drops from heaven. I played my mum's musical box, Aariz likes it, somehow I think it brings the fever down.

Aariz naps several times before he actual landed to lalaland. If anyone of you know how to train a baby to sleep early, you're most welcome. Tonight just about the side lamp switched off at 10ish, he suddenly woke up and smiled. But I pretended I was asleep, hoping that he would continue to sleep on his own, but I surrendered at last. Couldn't resist his charm, the eyes, those cute little curious fingers..and pearl white teeth. I know I'm adoring him too much.

Told you, I'm loving weekend even more. First, because of his tight monday to friday, 9 to 5 class schedule. Second, without EKC I'm less busy person right now.

So last weekend, we went out again to Bullring playing tourist haha. Kira tourist la baru sebulan kan duk sini. Lots of thing to do and see =) Remember the tourist pamphlets? Yes, not until we finished all the places. Now Bullring is a commercial area, shopping and leaisure complex..attractions, museums..Bukankah kita suka melepak tengok2 orang?

visit to Longleat

On monthly basis, daddy's school is organising trip to selected places - cheaper ticket coach and entrance fee. We've checked out a few and straightly purchased two for this month hehe. So the first trip was Longleat safari, considering that Aariz would love to meet the animals. So on that day, we woke up early, kesian Aariz mengantuk lagi. First time ni Aariz naik coach =)

Our coach departed promptly at 8:30, as scheduled sebab nak sampai awal. It was a daytrip jadi kenalah berbaloi. Knowing that it was a very long journey (for Aariz) risau juga dia meragam but the idea of packed lunch has saved us. When I saw a sign - 43km to Southampton, wow never thought it was that far! Nevertheless, the journey was taking us on a delightful stunning green scenery. And we passed via Bradford on Avon, at a moment a think I've left my heart in there. Cantik sangat, you can google if you want.

It was nearly three hours journey, Aariz had his nap as a preparation to explore hehe. Longleat has two main attractions, the safari and adventure park.

We began our day with trip around the safari in our coach - it was permitted to leave the coach and walk with giraffe and zebra, but we didn't. Because nobody did so pun..semua pun pusing2 dalam kereta je kan. While mummy and daddy sibuk tengok all those camels and ostriches bagai, Aariz macam biasa 'bird..bird'..suka betul dengan bird.

It was my first time ever seeing white wolves at the final part of the safari. And they were difficult to spot tapi bila dah nampak tu memang scary! I don't know, I mean, I just felt so.

So done with longleat safari, we moved on to the adventure park. Cruise and steam railway were among the most highlighted. The cruise trip took us around Half-Mile lake. Sea lions, hippo and Nico (a gorilla) live in there. Kesian Nico, still mourning over his dead wife. Sentimental pula gorilla kan.

On our Lady Lenka boat, the other one was Lady Bath. What a name =)

And other attractions were castles, maze,pet corner..but everything in here are nature based..

One day trip to Longleat was worth the cost, except the bird show =( frankly boring, I should say. Oh please go and learn from Everland Korea team with first class bird show. The bird show should be Aariz's most favorite one. But big thanks daddy for bringing us along on a beautiful day! Next is Bath.

Hubby went to watch the game between Aston and Wigan without me. Alahai I so wanna go, tapi tak sesuailah bawa Aariz. When he came back home, I asked him about it and he replied alaa nothing much..biasa2 saja (nak ambil hati la tu), but still I have a little bit excitement whenever it means for football, or epl to be exact. So, he promised to bring me.

Just about 200 yards from the stadium was Aston Hall, the Jacobean-style mansion house. The day was planned for the mansion house sebenarnya, yang stadium tu singah2 je.

Ok frankly telling, I didn't give much attention to the notes. Biasakan melawat muzium ada nota-nota yang kena tampal tu. Until at home, I did some study about it and it was quite interesting. Long story short, the mansion was originally owned by Sir Thomas Holte, before sold to James Watt jr (Watt known for the steam engine, yes! ) and later was purchased by a private company for use as private park and museum. Sir Thomas was born from a wealthy, land-owning family. But he himself did much to further his family fortune and the result was Aston Hall to reflect his wealth and status. Started built in 1618 and moved into in 1630, you do the math and now let's see what's inside a mansion house.

Sir Thomas Holte married as his first wife Grace, daughter and co-heiress of William Bradbourne of Hough, Derbyshire, with whom he had fifteen children. Sir Thomas made use of his connections to secure his second son, Edward, a position in King Charles I's household. Whilst in London, Edward met and married Elizabeth King, daughter of John King, the incumbent Bishop of London. Unfortunately, Sir Thomas did not give his permission for the marriage, and never forgave his son for proceeding with the wedding regardless. Edward was entirely cut out from his inheritance, and despite pleas from the King himself, Sir Thomas never allowed reconciliation. After the death of the eldest son George in 1641, Edward was Sir Thomas' only remaining son. Sir Thomas re-married in short order Anne, the youngest daughter of Sir Edward Littleton of Pillaton Hall, and made great efforts to raise another son, so that Edward could be permanently cut out of the estate. Edward died on military service in 1643, having never returned to the family fold despite his several attempts. It was rumoured Sir Thomas locked up a daughter because she refused to marry her father's choice of husband. The story goes that she starved to death.

Sir Thomas' second wife was able to give him another son, but the boy did not survive past childhood, in common with nine of the children from Sir Thomas' first marriage. During his last days he was finally persuaded to leave Aston Hall and all his estates to Edwards's son Robert, his grandson, who would inherit the baronetcy. Sir Thomas was buried in Aston Church, survived only by his wife and daughter Grace.

He probably has forgotten his mini playground at our home (Bangi), or it's always a playground if toys are around. Last 2 weeks the weather was good for car boot sales. We've been told by other parents that car boot sales are heaven for toys. And it really was. Love shopping mainan for Aariz!

Bought Leap Frog learning tablets, Fisher Price walker and books, at tip top conditions as if they've never been used. Aariz now walks steadily and luckily the walker can be converted to ride-on.

Aariz's favorite word is "nak"..maksudnya mahu makan hehe. His most wanted? Potato chips. Enjoy himself munching and watching his favorite, well none other than upin ipin (on youtube), or sometimes playing games on cbeebies (on bbc)

Aariz loves the weather in here, selamba sejuk taknak pakai jaket. And being more friendly than ever. Habis semua orang ditegurnya,..on the street or wherever. Uncle gas pun suka Aariz.

a weird park near Washwood Heath

Before we come, I've been picturing a nice park just near our house. That was what I thought a housing area in UK would be. So, I asked my husband if he knows any. Yeah there's one but don't expect much, he warned me.

So off we went to check out the park. I should say a weird abandoned park. Swans/ducks welcomed us warmly, they must thought that we were going to feed them. Scary tho. Not sure the park's name but it located at Washwood Heath, so it would be the name..In case someone else wants to google about the same park, hence this entry title hihi.

visiting Sealife Birmingham

We'd collected lots of tourist pamphlets. One that caught my attention was Sealife, because I thought my son would love to see fish-fish. After visiting daddy's school (from my previous entry) we continued on to the National Sealife. But lack of singage was frustrating =( We followed the signs to NIA, National Indoor Arena as instructed and fortunately we came across a canal ...

I'd like to spend time enjoying the cruising but, maybe some other time..

Sealife includes more locations all around UK and Europe, it's a part of the Merlin annual pass. We should consider to purchase the package which includes theme parks and castles.

As much as Aariz enjoyed watching the creatures, he got excited seeing other kids running here and there. Friendly Aariz wants to be friend with everyone, at the sealife, at busses, and everywhere! And I'm adoring his sincere smile and pearl white teeth!

visiting daddy's school

You know that the coldness is never too far. We've been told that the weather are getting cooler...brrr! Hubby had his class cancelled last wednedsay so we went out to his uni. We took two busses, the first bus stopped at the city centre, I secretly love to see how the ladies style up their shawl here. Don't get suprise to see that they're more stylish!

Upon reaching his uni I felt so proud and started to reminisce about a dream that came true eventually =) Alhamdulillah.

We wandered around the faculty, went to the cafe and heated up our food hihi. I prepare him bekalan nasi lauk everyday because I don't think eating bread alone boleh cukup for whole day. Makan roti tak Malaysialah kan. And performed zohor at the musolla. Alhamdulillah everything seems very fine and comfortable.

so, what i'm up to these days

It's October! Another two months before a brand new year. How's your resolution, are we there yet? Did I really say 'resolution' T_T Anyhow, for we know that change is inevitable..they said, change is constant..yelah mengikut keperluan. For me, things has changed a lot, obviously. I miss home! You heard me. I miss Malaysia very very much..especially these past days. To find a perfect house was stressful. We were after new house because some problems we had with the landlord. But to the end, we managed to discuss it properly and we had got what we want. Alhamdulillah.

Oklah malas dah nak fikir yang tu..everything's going to be fine now. Hubby's classes have started...that's why I'm loving weekend even more, tunggu je weekend supaya boleh go out jalan2. In weekdays I help out my jiran to look after her kids, two of them..four and three years old. As seen on picture playing with Aariz. First time sebenarnya jaga kanak-kanak. And speaking about kanak-kanak, I haven't been yet to the children's centre as mentioned earlier.

But we have found our favorite kebab shop! Lunched out today at the same shop..suka sangat la tu hehe. In Saltley it is very easy to get halal food. Sometimes I forgot that I'm in UK, but Lahore or so kerana memang Pakistani dominated this place. Alhamdulillah, we are living in a good neighbourhood and a plus point jugalah masa pilih rumah ni. Alhamdulillah semuanya mesti ada hikmah kan?

The price is ok. You can get like 3-person meals for 3pounds. But that's not an excuse hari-hari makan luar kan. Should save some money for travel! Lagipun, groceries kita-kita ni are easily to find here..halia, lengkuas,daun kari oh your name it! Orang kata, kalau masuk dapur dan masak tu tak rasa la macam kat oversea. In other word, nak kata rajin masak ke? I hope this won't change. I repeat, should save more money for travel. Been thinking of Spain to escape this coming winter. Daydream!

Hmm..what else, oh yes! We like carboot sale so much. Baru dua kali pegi tapi hasil tangkapan boleh tahan. Especially Aariz's stuff. Lots of good toys and books too. And me? I recently purchased a carpet at 4 pounds. It's a lovely english flowery in pink. A leather jacket to wear in Barcelona (daydream!), and a pair of kidsGap jacket and pants at 1pounds! haha untuk buat tidur apa salahnya. Yep yep I'm petite and proudly can fit it.

miles to Birm

Hi. Do you miss me? haha. Three days ago we moved into our house, tho it's not really a dream house but somehow thanks to mr hubby yang rajin kemas, it looks like a home now. Still got plenty things to do. Well, the point is, that should explains my blogging hiatus.

Where should I begin,.. The flight. If I could add a timeline, 17th September mark our journey to Birmingham. The flight was delayed for 2 hours, but landed as scheduled at Schiphol airport, Amsterdam. After hundred of flights, traveled back and forth KK-KL since I was a little, I still fear of flying. But thanks to Malaysia Airlines, my forever favorite airlines with smooth take off and landing. First class inflight service. Thanks JPA for the business class seat sponsored. We got seat upstairs, reminds me the movie snake on plane. Rezeki Aariz ni. Always rezeki anak =)

It was nearly subuh when the plane passed by Russia. SubhanAllah, the sun rising was the most beautiful view. And alhamdulillah Aariz behave well during the flight. I'm petite and proud that we fit on a seat. Tak sanggup kasi Aariz tidur sorang dalam basinet.

Nope, I'm not wearing makeup thru out the night. Siap tukar pijama lagi..selesa untuk bf.

The Schiphol Airport was the best airport we've been so far. If only we had much time, I surely be glad to take the between flight tour. A tour package to visit the city for 2 or 3 hours. But not this time. We had only 2 hours before the next flight to Birm.

Ok that's all for now.

New life in Saltley

I really didn't think much about it,but it's a lot stranger than I thought it was going to be. Now, should bear in mind that we're entering new phase of life.

I'm talking about our new life here in Birm. We've decided to live in Saltley, majority-muslims neighbourhood. It's quite far from my husband's uni, but it's ok. The public transportation is good.Efficient buses! Not the tubes, as many of you may guessing. Haven't found the nearest station.

Anyway,we have wandered around a little and found a children's centre very close to our house =) A very welcoming place! I love hearing kids speak with british accent hehe

Till now, I'll update with full story of our 14 hours flight journey,the Schiphol airport which has a museum and kid forest, the bullring and all..once we have internet.

Alhamdulillah I've finished my masters. It must be my parents' doa and I couldn't have done this far without the support from my husband.

So obviously the application works with my humble phone. The photo was taken when we were getting ready to dine out yesterday.

As a biologically food lover, fail at cooking, I surely will miss Malaysian food T_T . Berbaki hanya 4 hari ini, I made a lists of foods to eat fgs haha! Just imagine an aromatic ikan bakar, sos kicap, nasi panas...and ulaman. Wuu mouthwatering. And luckily it's for me!

Went to Sekinchan ikan bakar. We had grilled jenahak with Sekinchan's signature sos tiga rasa. Alhamdulillah sedap!

the last collection

I just uploaded the last collection, ehem..before my looong holiday yey! You should know by now that we're moving to UK. My husband is furthering his study in Birmingham uni. And because he is where our home is, I'm glad to follow. Mestilah. But I don't have any plan for myself, except, well I secretly dah cari2 children's centre for Aariz. Bestnya! I can't wait for that. Aariz had never experience school/nursery before, so I'd rather make this happen for him this time.

So here's my last collection, Pashmina Arfa. I personally love this collection because of its finest material and it has a little bit shining finish. Don't we like it?

One more thing. It is fun to shop for face essentials or make up. But it's quite confusing to buy for 1 year supply. I know I could find more products in UK but I don't think it's easy to find face essentials (facial form or moisturizer) that suits me well. I'm using L'oreal btw. And for that matter, I had spent RM200++ yesterday. Oh my God perempuan =(

Dah terbeli the new Maybelline clear smooth all in one (just because it's pink!). Hasilnya bagus, as per pic above. No PS ok. I could replace my MAC. Ok, very well said. I recommend you for as low as RM19.80 saja =)

summit trail begins : Timpohon gate

We are leaving for UK by next week. I haven't say anything about it, have I? But we are still in my hometown, Ranau.. a quite long holiday this time, I must say. We take this oppurtunity to show Aariz around Ranau. If you happen to visit my hometown, there are a lot of attraction places not to be miss!

Just 2 days ago, we went to Timpohon gate, the place where the summit trail begins for Kinabalu climbers. Timpohon gate is a part of Kinabalu national park territory, it so often shrouded in mist. It was bone chilling cold up there, ..it was indeed below the wind. Peaceful.

I browsed thru my old entries and decided to repost one (Sept 2010). For my late grandma.

Everytime I wear kebaya will reminds me of my late grandma, she liked it. And I'm more than happy to see her smile upon me, and at the moment I think I'm pretty.

I can't remember when was the last time that I loved raya. But I will always miss her around, me in my kebaya and her smile.(erniekhairina, Sept 2010)

She's always in my heart and my mind. If only she's still around, she's happily playing with my son.

Aariz is sleeping beside me, hence i'm blogging via my phone. The daddy is away to outstation. I hate it when he's not around. I feel lazy to do anything. Lazy to cook, even for sahur. Just now my dad called me; " ayah masak sardin untuk sahur,tumis tumis bawang putih". Oh my, tho sardine isn't into my liking alongside maggie, but air tangan ayah sedapnya...ah! I miss my family and the kitchen.

So my 29th birthday today. I'm so grateful that I'm born as Muslims, my parents are still around, being loved by the people that I care, (so proud that being loved by you) I'm happily raising my kid(s) and living my dreams...Alhamdulillah.

Aariz's big day!

I'm not forgetting, (but finding another excuse) to blog about Aariz's big day. I'm just too occupied right now. See, long time ago I started blogging to kill some time whenever I got nothing to do in office. Now that I'm a mother, a student, and in addition a small business to run, it's impossible for me to update this blog regularly. But I'll try.

Last 2 weeks, we threw a ~~party~~ kenduri to celebrate Aariz's big day. He has turns 1! Can't believe my baby is a toddler now T_T

We had a simple preparation, and very last minute! I didn't bake the birthday cake myself. I'm very poor at baking you know right. I bought a special birthday cake with Upin & Ipin decoration for my one and only. It costs me RM145, if only I can bake.

For the house deco, me and my sister made banners and cards. These cards were very special, stated things about Aariz's on it.

So yeah, enjoy the pictures =)

Today in Last Year

At this very moment in last year, I was in a labour room. After 5 hours fighthing with the indescribable pain I gave birth to a beautiful baby. Soon after I saw him the pain is all gone but still I was nervous to meet him for the first time. Can't believe I survived ! of course I remember it very clearly because it was such an experience of a lifetime. But one thing for sure if you ask me (or other mothers out there) no one could explain how the pain was like

..bagaimana anda mampu mengingati kesakitan selepas menerima hadiah dari syurga?

That's the answer!

Today, my baby turns 1. I'm a proud mummy. Happy birthday my shayang Aariz Afzal. I hope you're happy living with me =) I love you so very much. Mummy and Daddy love you very much Aariz.

Sometimes I call him Dalish..because 'da-da' is his first word. Hmmm..tak dapat berhenti senyum =)

Themed 'Roses are Forever', beautiful landscape but the crowd ( and I don't expect to inhale cigarette smoke at a flower garden)...somehow took away my mood.

Today is the last day.. I recommend you to be there at late afternoon because there must be fireworks show to wrap up the night

I always complaining to think of a new sightseeing place in KL. Macam semua dah pergi je,..yeah often sigh. Habis fikir pun mesti KL Lake Garden. At a time jadi macam our pit stop dah..haha, sounds desperate? Please KL do something! Well, as listed on the city very own hop on hop off tour operator, KL Lake Garden has always been the point of interest. Foreign tourists or KLites. I must say the Bird Park and the Botanical Garden are the most favorite.

July : the month of my life

On this day last year, at this very moment, I was preparing myself (was wearing unfashionable purple big size blouse) to dine out at our favorite restaurant. We (and Aariz in my tummy) celebrated our third anniversary. We talked about our lives, dreams and the preparation to become a new parents.

Two weeks later Aariz came, bringing a new phase in our lives. July is absolutely the month of my life.

Today is our fourth anniversary. I couldn't ask for more but very thankful to Allah. I'm loving an angel instead. Dear hubby, Happy Anniversary. Thanks for making all of my dreams come true. Thanks for being the daddy to my son.

And most of all, Dear Mak, thanks for bringing me into this world. With all of my emotions, I wish you Happy Birthday. May Allah continue to bless your life and give you the desires of your heart, health be yours.

To all my loved ones, many thanks..many thanks. Love you.

Cameron Highlands 2011

Well, I hope you still remember our Cameron trip last week. Before the memories scattered, I better write down a thing or two, or at least Aariz will know that he has experienced cold weather (in Malaysia).

Upon arriving, we took some time just wandered around a pasar malam. Ah I smell food! Because of the cold weather, semua pun jadi sedap..

Bought this little cute cap too..

Aariz anak mummy, humm..to stay put his cap a bit challenge. Kenalah main pujuk2 sehingga dia lupa ada sesuatu atas kepala. I just like to see him wearing it.

We stayed at Heritage hotel for 3 days and 2 nights. I like this hotel because of its huge area, and strolling around here pun dah so Cameron.

If you ever come to Cameron Highlands, make sure Kampung Taman Sedia is on your list. This is a peaceful place, imagine the fine weather, flowers and strawberry farms and homestay.. Cameron's products are cheaper here.

But Aariz was too sleepy for strawberry picking.

We'll come again, alrite.

I've made multiple reviews on Cameron Highlands that this time I don't know what else to tell but, the most celebrated in Cameron Highlands must always, always flowers and strawberries =)

Went to Tajine last weekend. It was actually hubby yang invited the family to celebrate. I mestilah happy..tumpang makan =D Oh ya, Tajine is somewhat Moroccan / Middle Eastern food place. I like the ambiance..

It was too early for lunch time and obviously no one other than us. Jadi memang puaslah bergambaran =) Two thumbs up for Tajine. Beautiful place and first class food served! But I didn't snap the food. Sedap la, lupa..

So before you google for Tajine, here I'm giving you sneak peak for the restaurant. What blog is for =)

I've been using my dear hantaran handphone for almost 4 years now. Finally, my son gave me a license for new handphone. Seriously, do not let your child playing with your gadget, or else hand phone damage can be divided into two groups; pecah dicampak atau kuyup dengan air liur. hehe

So I was looking for Sony Ericsson, any type will do la. Janji SE. But choices can be stressful. kan kan.. took me forever to decide. And finally bought SE Xperia X8.

Color ; Pink - yes.
Small - yes.
Camera - yes
FB connect - yes ( Pfftt .what social media has done to us)
Blog publish - yes ..haha
GPS - yes ..
Price - worth it!

chip..chip.. Aariz 9th month development

Aariz is taking his nap. In any minute he will wake up for milk. So, I'm taking this chance to update my blog. Aariz is 10 months now, but I haven't update his 9th month development. Imagine Aariz will ask me, " Mummy, where's my 9th month story? " Oh boy.

9 month Aariz loves his toy. He knew to push, bang and checking gravity ( throw things that come cross his path) I was surprised when I saw him (for his first time) pushing. It took energy you know =) Aariz dah pandai pun susun2 his mainan, knows the coordiation of the small or big loop when he wants to place them.

Aariz is still exclusively BF, insyAllah will continue sampai umur 2 tahun. His diet has changed from blended food, now dah makan yang bertexture. Porridge and side dishes; chicken soup and potato, fish soup and tomato..memang special makanan Aariz tau. I give him biscuit as his finger food. Tengok tu makan comot =)

Tak tak, anak mummy comel.

Aariz can focus thing that attracks him. Last weekend we went to KL bird park. Tengoklah aksi Aariz tu.

Aariz dah kurang tidur siang, and he sleeps well at night. Tidur dalam aircond memang nyenyak,haihh kena duk oversea ni! But sometimes Aariz mengigau nangis atau ketawa. I wonder what he's doing in dreamland. Like seriously, is baby ever dream? Comel.

Aariz can stand up steadily ..dah fasa meniti, in any time can walk! But I love it when we both (and daddy) boleh lepak2 kat sofa and watching tv together.

Yes Aariz is a big boy now, in two months will become a toddler. I thought I heard him saying 'mama' last day..ouhh boy!

We were somewhere in KL to clarify my sim card problem. I applied for change from my prepaid plan to postpaid..yup, I'm an Xpax celcom loyal customer, been using the same number since we couldn't imagine how cheap a sim card costs now. Remember Hotlink sim card was RM238! gilaaa..

And alang2 berada di KL, I texted my friend, "Aida boleh bagi suggestion for any Arabic cuisine restaurants?" I want lamb lamb! And she replied, "Rawsha.. yang bangunan dia macam castle."

Yay..it is! That don't impress me much... But until our food came..

Besarnya lamb! Sebesar garfu besar. This order is meant for 2 person. Jangan order 2 pinggan ok! And we had roti with meat vegetables pula lepas tu. Hmmm.. my husband kept saying, "nevermind it's good for milk production! "

Aariz pula had his lunch that I cooked earlier. Yes, he had meat too. I gave him chicken since last two weeks, tengok ok je ..so I continue giving him in moderate amount je la.

Happy Aariz dapat tengok-tengok.

So, that was Rawsha. Sumpah menu dia tak biasa - Basbossa, Madghut, Tawook . Tak biasa kan. But Istambul? Maybe it's a typo. Hmm the taste is there but I opted for Briani Gam Putrajaya for next time.

Museum visit : Orang Asli, traditional and beliefs

Our national museum is located just alongside Mahameru highway. The giant poster gives an easy updates on new running exhibition. I remember the last time we went to the museum was to check on the new interior (after months of construction) and Traditional Weapon exhibition

As much as I do like museum, we took Aariz for his first visit...hehe it's never too early to introduce him such weekend activity that benefits. We arrived at 5ish and someone told us that the museum was nearly close, but we didn't bother. And look who we met!

Dato' Ibrahim, Ketua Pengarah Jabatan Muzium Malaysia. We truly respect your work and dedication of bringing a positive change to our museums nationwide.

When we think about Orang Asli, it pictures us about a group that has its own language and culture, and perceives itself as different from the others. But it is not to suggest that (our) Orang Asli is live in isolation. Government and agencies has develop more programmes for them, refer JHEOA.

Mind you, this is a picture heavy entry!

As an animistic society, the Orang Asli belief system is governed by the spirits within their surroundings. Plants, caves, rivers, mountains, rocks, animals (and anything you can think of) are believed to possess a soul and spiritual power.

They look upon dreams to inspire their daily action. No such thing as an empty dream, mimpi bukan mainan tidur =) For them, the dreams signifies the journey of the spirit in another world. The images that emerge from their dreams are reflection of a particular soul.

Dreams are also as inspiration for religion and healing treatment. They are more reason behind any illness, which is derived from disturbed soul.

This is Bes (ghost). For example the left Bes will cause a stomach sickness.

The last part of healing or the special method of treatment is by using Sampan, which the illness will be washed into the river.

The main thing I like about this exhibition was the endeavor to construct the exhibition like real, gives us the chance to follow and understand their life.

The Orang Asli is special in their own way. One thing for sure, they view the world such as the origin (hence, Orang Asli) and they focus on the relationship between different elements and various other matters contained within it.

Oh ya, April will end soon and I've only 5 entries for this month. Just where are all of my promises to update this blog gone, anyway? I've made so many promises. Promise to submit my last chapter this week. I better be, because I'm really itching to sew again.

Anyway, photos tell stories.

Location : Jonker Walk, Melaka

It was Aariz's first time out to Jonker walk. Hmm, Malaysia blessed with summer all year round, I must say.
Aariz was too sleepy while we were strolling around. But he didn't fall asleep.

Apart from cendol and laksa mission (if you're familiar with Jonker walk, you know exactly what I'm talking about), we went to Cheng Ho's museum.

I've always fascinated with China, of course I'm interested with Cheng Ho's story. So this place was his old warehouse, porcelain factory. Please note that the museum ain't run by Malaysian, it's Singaporean man who made this place because of his passion toward Cheng Ho's remarkable voyages.

The exhibits are all about Cheng Ho's life and his 7 voyages. The admiral was a muslim, his great-grandfather was from somewhere in Uzbekistan.

Cheng Ho and his crews visited Melaka brought their finest silk, herbs and tea. And a friendly exchange of culture, technology and to spread the Ming Dynasty. Hmm, semangat betul tour guide museum ni cerita. Worth the RM10 ticket =)

Inside the ship; rooms, kitchen, seng sei ..

Tapi memang besarlah kapal Cheng Ho. I mean, respect betul owner museum ni. Semangat.

Talk about Ming Dynasty will remind us about Cheng Ho, or Qin dynasty for the famous Terracota army. Well, a museum should be a place where you indulge with curiosity. Obviously terbeli buku pula, from the souvenir shop - 'China History ; Ancient China to 1911' .

I like Melaka, and this boulevard.
