Brussels the choco land

The only city we went in Belgium was Brussels. It was such a shame to skip Brugge, but we only had one day, in fact half a day to explore this small country. Located between Holland and France, kira menyinggah sajalah ni. Anyhow, Brussel has its own charm. Best known as the choco land, yes I guess every shop sells chocolate product. Saya tidaklah melepaskan peluang ini untuk mencuba the Belgium waffle, oh nyummeh! But different shop got different price, mind you. Terpulanglah kat mana lokasi tu... like 3 euro for 100 grams choco can goes up to 9 euro!

The journey from Duinrell (our park holiday in Holland) to Brussels took almost 3 hours, caught in traffic jam duhh..and managed to reach the Grand Place about lunch time. So we quickly made our way to Mannaken Pis ( the Little Man Pee) the famous landmark in Brussels. On our way, we passed by the Grand Place as the central square.

 at cental square, Grand Place

Well, well never did I imagine that the statue is that small! Nevertheless, tersangatlah famous that semua orang pun kerumun..tengok sajalah excitednya makcik tu hehe. Several legends lie behind this landmark. The statue resemble a lost  boy who was found happily urinating in a garden, and the other version said it was a boy urinating a fire and saved the city. Hmm.. macam-macam lah kan kalau nak dijadikan cerita =)

This one not the original statue. Yang sebenar dah disimpan dalam museum, one of the hall at Grand Place.

  mannaken pis is everywhere

After many trips, I understand that travelling isn't only about taking picture with the landmarks. It's more than that. Dealing with the people and their culture for instant..and I'm truly happy and treasure every moment of it.

Oh yes, Belgian they speak French. And their 'hijababes' are everywhere and looking pretty =)

The weather wasn't looking so promising on that day. Nevertheless, we made our next stop to another city icon, the Atomium. Right beside this landmark is the Mini Europe, another tourist attraction in Brussels tapi hujan tersangat lebat =(

Good bye Belgium and Holland!

Next update is Paris. But expect some delay (again sigh), I need to pack for Istanbul next week!

fun in the sun

So last saturday we all ada majlis aqiqah for the youngest baby boy. Biasa komuniti Malaysia Birm buat gotong royong for such event. This time I dapat tugasan masak..err preparing for big portion memanglah mencabar, and having that in mind kadang rasa nervous pula time masak tu. Alhamdulillah a new saus chef is born haha..menjadi jugalah my spagetti sauce untuk 60 orang makan tu. Pheww

While mommies were having time guffawing about our daily drama,  the daddies were discussing about next football match perhaps, and the kids were always had something else they're suppose to be doing. Fun in the sun!

It is the wettest and coldest May since 1960, as claim..semalam siap ada hujan ais! Malaysia pun pernah hujan ais kan, orang cakap. But err I don't have that memory.

So yeah unpredictable British weather. Tapi memang rasa bestnya ya Allah bila matahari keluar. And there are lot more fun things yet to be had.

Holland : Amsterdam

It was our last day in Holland, before heading down south to Belgium. Spent only a few hours exploring Amsterdam (after Zaanse museum). We were supposed to visit the grand mosque, but we didn't =(  , and we couldn't find the parking area as scheduled in my list. Kita hanya merancang, Allah yang tentukan. At last, we parked our van just beside a canal not very far from Damrak (Dam square), the tourist destination. So from there we walked merely 5 mins towards Damrak, and stopped at a kebab house for lunch.

 parking depan ini =)

 infront of a kebab shop

We didn't expect Europe was that cold in Spring, so we left glove and muffler behind, sudahnya saya pakaikan Aariz busha as cap and muffler. Kretip!

Aariz chasing birds at Dam square.

I was purposely did not tell hubs about the red light district...so he never ask, and we never go haha
Red light tu tempat tak elok, not suitable for toddler you know =P

 a canal in Amsterdam..picturesque!

Baru tau di Holland ni ramai Indonesian. Buku-buku Indonesia, Indonesian convininece store, penjual kedai diamond pun Indonesian.

a street in Amsterdam =)
jauh sudah langkahku..

The city icon and most sought after photo, the large I amsterdam letters located at the Museumplein, in front of the Rijksmuseum. And Rijkmuseum is no free entrance. Ingatkan National museum free, tapi costs 14 euro. We didn't make it. Kecewa.

a beach near our park holiday, Wasenaarlag. Sejuk gile!

Kesiputan upload blog sebab me and my baby terkena viral infection =( .. Alhamdulillah tengah recover sekarang.

Holland : Zaanse Schans

In Holland, the windmills are everywhere. I saw it right outside the window as we passed by a tulip field, near the stream or even at center of a town, or a big city like Amsterdam. But that did not complete the scenery of classic Holland until we reached an open museum Zaanse Schans, located in neighbourhood of Zaandam. Located near Zaandijk at Zaanstad district ( I know the names rather confusing but for the sake of documenting), what makes the neighbourhood special is because it has collections of well preserved windmills and houses. They were moved to the open museum from elsewhere. Awesome place, free entrance. Double awesome =)

I like this place, I highly recommend anyone going to Amsterdam to put Zaanse museum into a list. It is a must visit place. I like the greenery peace of mind as we walked house by house. Exhibition, museums, craft shops..and by leisurely walk some might having the feeling of step back in time. And so do I.. teringat masa kecil lari-lari di sawah nenek hee.. streams flow, wooden bridge, hut..all those minus the windmill of coz!

 clog

demo buat clog...hidup betul tempat ni. Not a typical dead museum.

real house..people are actually living in here..

my last glaze..and nostalgic.

Ok on that day, walaupun sibuk kejar Aariz, antara intipati perkongsian Ashraf :

3 sebab seseorang itu menjadi tetamu Allah; for discovery, sebagai dugaan, atau mendapat hidayah.

True. InsyAllah semua kita akan berpeluang menjadi tetamu Allah. Amin!
