jemima!

after watching 'Alexander bukan Zulkarnain' ..the making dulu rupanya, followed by documentary on 'Imran final test' (yes Imran Khan the cricket player).. I think I heard Jemima (former wife) spoke in Urdu! I've been adoring her and even more ~ ok, aku takda kena mengena dengan pakistan..but she sounds just nice.

Jemima also attached to Hugh Grant.. this adorable people.

padang-bukit tinggi, sumatera

Puncak Kiambang, Padang Pariaman.

I can’t deny it, I still have butterflies in my stomach every time I fly. But it will soon be evaporate as I glimpse the land and the beautiful clouds. I love the feeling like this; when you know something is awaiting you. Like when you’re traveling.

We just spent 4 exciting days in Padang, Indonesia. It only took 1 hour or less from KL to Padang. dekat..sebelah2 melaka saja.. Our travel guide cum driver, Pak Johan was very helpful and for this tour; 2 nights at Bukit Tinggi and 1 night at Padang (the main town). Bukit Tinggi was just about 2 hours from the main city, BUT we had trapped in their new year’s celebration which caused a MACET TOTAL; as they called it.. I saw the notice with the word macet total at the hotel’s lobby. We stayed at Grand Malindo hotel for Bukit Tinggi, and Pangeran City hotel for Padang city. You may want to upgrade for Ambacang or The Hills if you have much budget.

The grass was greener here ( I’m not talking about the idiom, anyway ) and my first impression of Padang was..eh, macam kat Negeri Sembilan!..yeah..their accent and even the music played in the air..serius macam berada di bus station Kuala Pilah.. yelah, Minang kan..dan ada juga yang bertanya tentang the late Tuanku Jaafar.

Jam Gadang; The structure was build in 1926 during the Dutch colonial era, as a gift from the Queen to city's controleur

ok, now I'm much more interested to zoom in the clock, then tell me what's the mistake you can distinguish?

The famous Pagar Ruyung palace was burnt few months before, (tapi surau dia selamat) so we went to next Istana Lindungan Bulan.

Have you ever wonder why their houses roof designed in such a way? Once upon a time, there was a buffalo fight (buffalo the animal, not the verb meaning; bully) by this two authorities; Minang and Jawa. Before they have had agreed with the event, the Jawa wanted the problem be settle by funds. But the Minang tak mahu tapi ganti dengan anak kerbau dan pasang pisau kat atas tanduk. Wah! Kejam!! You see, anak mesti akan menyusu kat ibu kan..then, habis la..kalah la si Jawa..ouh ya, you will notice that the cars from Padang / Sumatera with plat number BA ( A for Akal), while those from Jawa (Bandung or Jakarta) with BK (K for Kira-Kira)..hmm..ntah betul ke tak Pak Johan nih..

Mereka memakai atap zink, kerana percaya bahawa hidup di bawah tanah adalah sekali sahaja..so, they won’t use the genting-roof. And this place once famous with 'kota serambi Mekah'.. I didn't get when Pak Johan explained us about it ( maybe I was busy snapping ) but we noticed masjid/surau in every 200 meters..banyak..takda masalah nak berhenti mana2.
In every house, there will be no room for their son, anak teruna kena tidur di masjid/surau..

We were lucky because the hotel (@Bukit Tinggi) was just about few meters from their Wisata Alam (tourist attraction). The weather was fine and the wind blew just very nice..it was a spectacular look from here.

Jangan tak tahu kat bawah tuh sebenarnya adalah bekas Lubang Jepun. Old Japanese were really bad guys..adaka patut pekerja binaan, of couse the local.. killed after their hard work..isk..it was 1946.. but the place was found around '80s.

Bukit Tinggi, from above a bridge..on the way to a museum

On the way from Bukit Tinggi to Padang (main town) we stopped at Hajah Rosma's place.. the place known as akademi tempat sulaman. But she was not around, they were having their kuliah asar at the surau next to this place.

ada orang malaysia (kelantan) belajar kat sini

..dia kata sebulan baru siap..gulp!

Pandai Sikek- the handicraft place.

Hubby was fascinated, while Khairunie was busy SLRing

Shopping; you better don't expect Padang like Bandung/Jakarta. No Factory Outlets..yap, you heard me. So, you'll find only kain2, telekung2, and of course the embroidery memang sangat kelas dan hebat..Tips; pegi kedai bernama Cany. pusing2 tempat lain, kat sini juga aku membeli..

Anyway, if you happen to visit Padang for shopping..please make use your Rupee at Bukit Tinggi..the kain embroidery lebih canggih, cheaper and lots of better choices.

Food; since we were already here in Padang, tak payah la request for Nasi Padang.. So, this is Nasi Padang.. I like it too much.. their sambal hijau (sorry, I don't know the real name) but it tasted great! .. sambal yang cicah2 dengan pucuk paku/other ulam..isk! sedap!! boleh tanding sambal jangan lombok

view from the restaurant

Kat sini memang penuh sawah padi dan kolam ikan..memang tak mati kebulur la nak kata..and it reminds me of my childhood view..main lompat2 atas batas2 tu..
The last day, Pak Johan took us around Padang town..but not so much to visit. We spent some for kerepek2 la and other souvenirs..just like other tourists did.. and of course I bought freezer magnetic, for my collection :P

There was a story behind this bridge but I'm not very interested to share..because it wasn't something we want to proud of..hmm, bukan pejuang negara..like we have; Shamsiah Fakeh ke Tun Fatimah etc..

Singkarak Lake

It was truly a regret that we had missed Lake Maninjau because of the raining, and batu Malin Kundang at Pantai Manis. From my personal view, it was just a myth / local story because if anybody want to claim it as a real story, we still have it in different versions; Malin Kundang (Indonesia), Si Tanggang (Malaysia) and Nakhoda Manis (Brunei).. Nevertheless, it was unformal education, I suppose.

from google; maybe it just a coincidence but..still freak me out!
It was a great time for us, I was happy, and most of all my mum was happy too..and even said that she want to be here again, but Jogja maybe?..hehe.. Before I end, I just want to say that Padang is actually a nice place to visit, but maybe the local just not very aware or appreciate of what they have..few places not well maintain, littering happens everywhere. They should know that they have amazing place with history (or myth, I dont care) and so much to share. The history helped them to change their lives, for the better (quote from History channel sbenarnya :P )

yesterday and tomorrow

Yesterday was a blast! Aida and her lovely family are going to London (ouh Adam will be sexy with the accent) so we decided for a small gathering at my home. I cooked my mum’s laksa, and it was my first time ever, dunno if it tasted great..but it almost finish when fiza alkham & beau (the last guest) about to leave.. da da da~
It was such a great time, somehow I felt proud to my girls as in their pregnancy time still looking good and sweet as ever. I truly, by now been thinking of expanding my family.. but I’m not very sure if it is the right time. I mean, am I really ready for a baby? Despite for my tight travel schedule for this year (leisure and work trip), and we know being a mother has never been simple. Nevertheless, deeply in my heart I know that being a mother, I will treasure the love I never thought I have.. isn’t that a beautiful thing? SubhanAllah.

The picture was taken at Taman Botani Putrajaya, I think it was before Maisun’s wedding day..maybe march or april 2007..from left Aida (a.k.a mommyadam), Faie and Maisun; both expecting their babies , Kema, Fizaros and I (tembam! sambil mengisi udara dalam mulut macam ikan buntal)

********************************************

Time can do so much. We love or hate it, yet life is about responsibilities. Maybe in this very moment you’re facing a difficulty, it is so hurting like you want to bury you head..ouh please don’t.. Because you should know that there are more and ugliest thing will happen in front. So, besar mana pun masalahnye..ade lagi yg besar tu..releks jek la..kalo tak pon, pi tidoq.

2008 was the toughest and emotionally year, I can say. Things had happened I can’t reveal. All I can say is “Hope and Faith give me space of Relieve” ( at last I have my own philosophy!) Miracle Allah almighty gave us mixture feeling of sweet tenderness when we are in depressed time. That make me look around and I know love keep me going..so wonderful that sometimes I feel like flying without wings.
ouh ya..Happy New Year everyone, its never too late.. I'm not very interested to talk about any resolutions,..or maybe, I just want to be smart in every possible way..yeah that's better!
ouh well, I still thinking about my baby!
baby, mommy will write you a journey of splendid 'poems', as mommy could.
.. Did I sound like very womanly?

Poetry is the art of uniting pleasure with truth

I must say that the last time I did for jotting down notes was in MMU time.., but the documentary titled ‘Treasure of Islam’ @Oasis made the pink notebook practical again. I was very fascinated that I penned every point-to-google-later like I understand what the narrator said.. kerana dalam language aku tak paham.. Ok, it was all about the early of Islamic history in Andalucia.. I guess it was Spain’s production and yap, featured gorgeous landscapes and historical building..with Arabic architectural style..very magnificient! Wahh..I’m even more obsessed with Palace of Al Hambra.. If you still remember my visit to Muzium Islam and Taman Tamadun Islam..

Ok, this one very cute..(bercakap harus macam pernah pergi) there are four great halls, one with the famous Patio de los Leones – the lion court, figures of lions that carry a fountain..and in it with some poetry – (translate siap2)

“Sedikit bicara dan kamu akan menemui kedamaian”

..omg so wonderful, how to make guests feel welcome because the path will lead us to next hall..yang macam ucap Assalamualaikum..best kan..

Ok I have even more to share.. there was a king named Al- Mu’tamid or famous known as the poet King for Seville (or Sevilla lebih classic) the city of poet. He was immortalized by his verse;

She stood in all her slender grace

Veiling the sun’s orb from my face

O may her beauty ever be

So veiled from times inconstancy

It was as if she knew, I guess,

She was a moon of loveliness;

And may aught else the bright sun veil

Except the moon's own lustre pale?

One day..chewah macam narrator tu cakap, as per subtitle la..While leisurely walking along the river's bank, the King unrehearsed a half verse, challenging his accompanies to supply the second verse on the spot. But before he could take up the rhyme, one of the washerwomen beside the river promptly replied. Mesmerized by her beauty and cleverness, the King brought her to the palace. Her name was I'timad and became his Queen of heart..

..macam fairy tale..dramatic haha

I can’t think any appropriate reason I could wear such leopard-printed fabric. Do you? But it was actually look pretty good, maybe I should have leopard-printed high heel.

Ok. I suppose to talk about our zoo trip.

We reached zoo at 12, and because of public holiday the place was a bit crowded. The more, the merrier kan..

sempat masuk Bernama TV..yg ni ayah suh upload

Alex, Marty and Gloria were there.. I never had such so much fun to see animals.. lebih2 lagi bila jumpa die nih haa..comel dan geram..

Well, it took real patience to have a nice shot of them..arghh.. We were quite surprised that the place actually well maintained. There were activities held, also animals show but it was too crowded..public holiday kan.

SLR hunting

for 24 DEC update

I was too young to understand about death or such ‘going away’. I was lying in my bed, at Yayasan Sabah’s place, when ayah called me about my gapa (grandpa) have passed away. It was my first day at new place, but little did I know that it was my last day to have him. It was yesterday and 14 years ago. hmm..Al Fatihah.

Today, I was driving in crawl traffic with one mission. CAMERA hunting. Kayrunie (please note the new spelling, and I’ll tell you later) was so excited for her ‘all hail’ day.. the SLR, the reason for all effort of 3 weeks part time work, her dream..her future bestfriend..bla bla..you know how much she have yearned for SLR..So, today would be the day..’all hail’! haha

..and I’ve been super supportive to cancel my previous work plan, accompanied her for the hunting.. We were at sg besi when the traffic jam was actually caused by the inconsiderate freaks drivers who wouldn't give way to signal drivers in left lane.. tak suka kan, kalo dah signal org tak kasi masuk..

dah setahun kot tersadai, takde org nak beli?

So, we reached SgWang at 12, and I realized that wahh..it was a while since my last here..sungguh hingar. We were strolling around and waited for ayah, cuci mata.. and made the final comparison..actually, I know nothing about the toy..so I let her alone, lagi pun confirm derang cakap cina..

In point of fact that ayah is SLR-fan, he knows details at his best.. have encouraged my sister’s new hobby..haha, best la die..hmm, ape hobi aku ek.. Teringat masa dulu-dulu, we got embarrassed every time ayah bawak ‘kamera besar’ ..sekarang ni, in trend pula..

After Sg Wang, we went to ASWARA.., ayah supposed to meet his friends..tak tau la, kenapa ayah nak sangat kami masuk ASWARA dulu..hmm, apa bakat aku?

seronok la jadik model
