Rome : Vaticano and Piazza Navona

We took a 48hrs ride on the open bus tour. On day2, we had only two stops; the Vaticano and a place which I considered as my favourite spot in Rome, the Piazza Navona. As you know, a hop on hop off bus will make the same loop. As we passed by the same route, I truly enjoyed the panoramic view.. the second time around.

Every cities in Europe has its own charm. Of course they might look the same (at least daripada pandangan mata kita - Asian) , but how they differ from each other is subjective. Terpulang kepada mata hati kita.

One slightly regret that we didn't go to Rome most famous flea market, Campo de Fiori ( flower courtyard), an open air market where they sell fruits or everyday supply. I could only imagine bestnya tengok Italian menjual-jual hee. It only opens in morning, but we were already on the way to the Vatican city.

St. Pietro basilica. Claimed as the richest church in the world. wait till the photos inside..

My husband and I couldn't stop relating the site with those in the Angel and Demon scenes. The polizia (police) in Vaticano, the above plaque, the dome, the monuments and just everything yang dalam filem tu haha. And the sky..masa McGregor bawa heli tu kan.

We had to que for the immigration check for entering the church. I don't know if it was just me or anyone else wearing scarf / tudung memang payah sikit bab ni di Europe (had to go through extra checking just because) . But surprisingly not in Vatican. The staff were just ok and nice.

St Peter's basilica is the burial site of the first bishop of Rome, St Peter.

 the statue of St Peter

 interior by Giovanni Paolo Pannini

St Mary holding his son, sculpted by Michealangelo in a bullet proof glass

Again we used Rick Steves' walking tour on this site. Done the visit, we hop on the bus to Piazza Venezia (again), and walked on to the Pantheon, to the Piazza Navona.

Check this out..cool eh!

 the Pantheon

Inside the Pantheon. As a temple to all gods in ancient Rome. In Roma, semua tempatlah ada 'piazza', or square. The square infront of Pantheon is called Piazza della Rotonda....dimana Aariz jumpa horse hehe..tak takut budak ni.

Walk..walk..walk...and late lunch again. Betapa rindunya nak masak nasi sendiri kalau tengah travel kan. Pizza again..

And finally, we reached Piazza Navona. Saving the best for last for this is the place I found when I googled "romantic things to do in Rome"..hahaha.. And yeah, it was the most outstanding square we've been in the city. A relaxing place and to watch the world go by.

So that was Rome, glad that we made it here. We loved it =)

ohhh ..a photo not to be miss..kenangan di Europe hehe

You know there are lot more stories of Italy yet to be shared. The Pompeii scavi and the lovely Sorrento. Till next entry..
